Hiking and Wine Tasting in Chianti
An easy hike (2 hours) through the country-side and vineyards of Chianti, passing by medieval hamlets, villas and churches that together make up the picture perfect views that have made Chianti famous.
After the walk, visit the historic Sassolini Family Villa, where the winemaker will present his red wines, dessert wine, grappa and olive oil accompanied by local produce and typical Tuscan specialties. The Chianti Day trip leaves EVERY SATURDAY in June, July and August.

Tour Details
Meeting Time: Saturdays at 7.30am Meeting Place: In front of the Pharmacy inside the main Florence Train Station S.M.N Price: €40 including transport, hiking, wine and oil tasting, appetizers and FlorenceForFun Tour Leader. Availability: Minimum 25 people required for departure.
Itinerary
- The bus ride is approximately one hour to arrive in the heart of Chianti Region between Florence and Siena.
- Short stop to use the bathroom and have a coffee (not included).
- Walk through the vineyards and olive groves in the picturesque Chianti country-side. Walking time is between 2 and 2 and a half hours. The walking is easy and requires that you wear sneakers (hiking boots are not necessary).
- At the conclusion of the walk we go to the Sassolini Family Villa. This villa is not usually open to the public as the family still live there. They will host us in their dining room with a huge open fire place, where they will present their wines - a white, two types of red wine, vinsanto (Tuscan dessert wine) and grappa (after dinner digestive).
- The wines will be served with local produce, enough for lunch (included).
- In the afternoon the Sassolini's will give you a brief tour of their villa including the antique olive oil press and the library. There will be free time to relax in the garden of the villa, explore the small town and visit its famous butcher who sings and recites Dante. He sells meat to the likes of Sting and Jamie Oliver the Naked Chef.
